Summer 2022 Projects: Equine Massage Therapy

Equine Massage Therapy

Hi HEART Center, we just finished an Equine Massage therapy clinic, and we had an amazing time. Lucy, a professional equine massage therapist, talked to us about how massaging horses works, where to place our hands, how much pressure to use, and the steps to becoming a professional like her. Once she was done working on Collin, we could tell he felt so good because he was almost asleep not even interested in his hay. Overall, we all had a lot of fun during this clinic.

Jack & Noah

Jack and Noah noth were interested in schooling to become an equine massage therapist. Jack was ‘wow-ed’ by how much schooling is required!

Noah enjoyed the process of picking out pictures for his project and Jack liked seeing how big the horse muscles are.

Tatum & Emma

Tatum was fascinated by the different reactions horses have to receiving massage therapy on different parts of their body while Emma was interested in how someone becomes an equine massage therapist.

Tatum chose this project to show different sore spots on a horse. Emma just loves making poster board projects!

Holanie and Elle: Holanie learned that Colin yawns when something feels good. Elle noticed that when something hurts Colin he goes to eat some hay. Holanie enjoys making powerpoint projects. Elle enjoys looking at the pictures to create her projects.

Mikko T.

Miko learned how to massage a horse, different parts of the horse, and how a horse reacts to being massaged.

He also was fascinated by seeing the different muscle groups of the horses and enjoyed the process of choosing a picture and labeling the muscles in a powerpoint format.

Skylar D.

Skylar learned that the amount of pressure that you use can make or break a bond. Meaning, that if you are gentle, you can have a good bond with your horse, but if you go away too hard it will take a while to regain their trust. So , this is a trust-building exercise.

Skylar chose to do a poster board because she likes to draw, look up facts and try to put stuff into her own words.

Justin and Peyton: Justin learned how to become a massage therapist and Peyton learned that you can’t use a lot of pressure when giving a horse a massage. Justin chose to make a video because he likes that type of project and Peyton enjoys making videos with Justin.
